ANDREAS & LORENZ NIEDRIG
IRONMAN & MENTAL COACH
Real. Grounded. Moving forward.
Why Oer-Erkenschwick. Why this mining site.
This place is no coincidence.
The old mining site in Oer-Erkenschwick stands for origin. For work. For being grounded.
Andreas is a child of the Ruhr region.
His grandfather worked underground here.
His father completed his apprenticeship on this site.
Generations who learned to take responsibility and get things done.
Today, Andreas stands right here –
with his son Lorenz,
with his road bike,
with a story that goes deeper than any image.
A story without a mask.
Andreas stays very close to himself. He does not pretend.
He plays no role – neither on stage nor in life.

The Lowest Point
There was a time when Andreasʼ life was reduced to a single goal:
the next shot of heroin.
Every morning, the focus was clear. There were no boundaries left.
Street. Crime. Prison.
The idea of a normal life seemed unimaginable, and the way back appeared impossible.
Not the problem – the way out
And this is exactly where Andreas differs from many other stories.
He does not see his role as talking about problems.
Not in staying in the pain or dwelling on the past.
His focus is on solutions.
On the question: How do I get out of this?
At a point when he was further away from sport than ever before, Andreas achieved his personal turning point. Of all things, through one of the toughest sports in the world: the Ironman triathlon.

At a point when he was further away from sport than ever before, Andreas achieved his personal turning point. Of all things, through one of the toughest sports in the world: the Ironman triathlon.
In his first race, he broke the world record as the fastest Ironman newcomer.
Not because everything was easy.
But because he took responsibility.
For himself. For his decisions. For his life.
Andreasʼ life story is depicted on his bicycle – from his birth, through his drug addiction and his time in prison, all the way to his path out of addiction – back into motion, back to goals.
This bike does not stand for success, but for honesty and acceptance. And for the courage not to look away.

Father & Son
Standing beside him is his son Lorenz.
He, too, competes in triathlon.
He, too, feels this passion for movement, focus, and discipline.
And yet, it is not important to Andreas that his son follows in his footsteps.
He is proud because Lorenz is forging his own path.
Writing his own story.
Looking forward is what matters.
Not the past.

Conviction Over Instruction
Andreas does not judge.
He does not say what is right or wrong.
He knows that decisions can only be evaluated in hindsight.
At the moment of decision, what’s needed is courage and willingness.
And the ability to act in the here and now.
His core themes are clear:
Personal responsibility.
Self-acceptance.
Self-efficacy.
Resilience – mental as well as physical.
Not as theory.
But from lived experience.

Looking Ahead
For Andreas, it doesn’t matter where you come from.
What matters is whether you are ready to take responsibility and look forward.
Crises are part of life.
Like the air we breathe.
The question is not whether they will come –
but what we make of them.

D-Brand & Character
This story stands for what D-Brand represents:
Character. Conviction.
Authenticity.
Not perfect.
But honest. Because in the end, every person writes their own story. And no one else can live it for you.
