We accompanied Felix Oldenburg for a day in Berlin.

The social entrepreneur and founder of bcause showed us places that hold special meaning for him. Berlin is his home – the home of his children and also of his company.

Our journey began at Friedrichstraße. From there, we walked through Georgenstraße, past buildings whose walls still bear traces of history today. In some places, bullet holes from the Second World War are visible – silent reminders of how much past is embedded in this city.

Our path continued past the Pergamon Museum to Museum Island, where we finally stood in front of the James- Simon Gallery. Between classical architecture, history, and modern Berlin, it becomes clear how closely the past and the future are connected here.

For Felix, this is exactly what defines the unique character of this city.

"In Berlin, you can be whoever you want to be. There are an incredible number of different ways of life existing side by side. At the same time, the city has great historical depth – and every day I experience how a piece of the future is also being created here."

This spirit also shaped the idea behind bcause.

Felix founded the company from a feeling: that our society needs a better mechanism to deal with money. Not just to hold onto it or to grow it – but also to use it in a way that can create as much impact as possible.

“We are living in the richest moment in history,” he says. “And yet it seems as if money is lacking everywhere.”

With bcause, he wants to bring together people who think about how they can use their money to improve the world – and give them the tools to do exactly that. Through a network of people who want to take responsibility, and through a digital tool that fits into every pocket.

“Using money for good should be just as easy as earning even more money with a banking app or a neo-broker.”

At the end, we asked him what our motto “Show You Care” means to him.
“For me, it means understanding that we are all connected. We do not live a fulfilling life alone – but only together with others. Money also plays a role in this. What matters is how we use it.”

For Felix, showing care means helping others use their resources to shape the world in which they – and their children – want to live.
